Veteran artist Paramesh Paul recently inaugurated his art exhibition, "Embrace of The Light," at the Kamal Nayan Bajaj Art Gallery with notable attendees including actor Rohit Roy, Aliaksandr Matsukou—the Consul General of Belarus, Rajendra Patil, Uttam Jain and Mahendra Kalantri. The event also saw the presence of artists Vishwa Sahani, Sonu Gupta, Ananya Banerjee, Ratan Saha, Nitin Jadia, Vinita Mirchandani of Studio 3, Suraj Laheru, Kiran Chopra, Ritu Chopra, Dr ( Hon) Anusha Srinivasan Iyer, Ramesh Pachpande, Vijayraaj Bhodhankar, Shashi Bomavat and Rajkumar Sharma.
Born in 1970 in a traditional potter family in Nabadwip, West Bengal, Paramesh Paul's early life was steeped in spirituality and artistry. His upbringing amidst temples, the Ganga River, and local sculptures of deities profoundly influenced his artistic journey. Initially, he sculpted clay images of gods, which laid the foundation for his future in visual arts.
Although he pursued a commerce degree, Paramesh's passion for art led him to dedicate a decade (1992-2002) to the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in Shree Mayapur, Nadia, West Bengal. This experience deepened his appreciation for naturalism and spirituality, themes that prominently feature in his work.
Paramesh is renowned for his landscapes and cityscapes, particularly his depictions of Varanasi, Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Nabadwip Dham. The Ganges River frequently appears in his paintings, symbolizing the spiritual essence of these locales. His artworks often portray the serene waters of the Ganges, boat rides, morning worship at sunrise, evening Ganga aartis, and the ancient ghats, capturing the mysticism and spirituality of these cities.
Over the years, Paramesh has showcased his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions across India and internationally. His paintings have been featured in esteemed galleries and have become a source of inspiration for many emerging artists.
