Suresh Triveni Anil Kapoor named India winners At The Asian Academy Creative Awards 2026

The Asian Academy Creative Awards 2026 has revealed its National Winners from 18 countries and territories across the Asia Pacific. And India's Subedaar is among the most notable titles in the field. Anil Kapoor has also been named National Winner for Best Actor in a Leading Role. While Anil Kapoor represents India for Subedaar, produced by Vikram Malhotra, Suresh Triveni and Anil Kapoor, Jackie Chan represents China for The Shadow's Edge amongst other top honourees. The winners line up reflects the depth and range of talent the platform recognises across the region.

In another big honour, director Suresh Triveni has been named India Winner for Best Direction for a Feature Film for Subedaar, making it a significant double recognition for the film. Both Anil Kapoor and Suresh Triveni now represent India at the Grand Awards Gala in Singapore on December 3, where an international jury will determine the overall Asian winners. Producing companies Opening Image and Abundantia Entertainment  took to their social media channels and posted, "The global takeover continues! 🌍🏆 After making waves across the world, #Subedaar brings home big wins from the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2026, adding another milestone to our incredible journey!

In the Best Feature Film category, Subedaar competes alongside titles including Indonesia's Sundance competitor Levitating, Singapore's Annecy-winning animation The Violinist and India's biographical sports drama Bison Kaalamaadan.

The Asian Academy Creative Awards operates a rigorous two-round judging system. National Winners are first selected by a jury of senior industry figures at a country level, before progressing to the International Round, where grand winners are chosen by a global panel. This year's field is among the strongest the platform has seen, with 335 National Winners competing across 39 categories in film, television and digital content from 18 countries, with jurors from 38 countries taking part in the national round. The Grand Finals take place at the historic Capitol Theatre in Singapore on December 3.

For Opening Image and Abundantia Entertainment, this recognition at one of the region’s most rigorous creative platforms is a meaningful addition to what has already been a landmark year. Subedaar became Amazon Prime Video's most-watched Indian original in its opening weekend, trending across 31 countries. Maa Behen, the studio's Netflix social comedy directed by Suresh Triveni and starring Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri, Dharna Durga and Ravi Kishan, ranked number two globally among non-English films on Netflix, trending across 15 countries. Both films were also the only original films to feature in Ormax Media's top 10 most-watched Hindi OTT films for the first half of 2026.

With the Grand Finals in Singapore still ahead, and Family Business, Sundar Poonam, Chiranjeevi Hanuman, Angre and the studio's AI-driven slate still to come, the year is far from over. Congratulations to the entire team behind Subedaar.
